Paris Match Critique (4/5)
There are films and political figures that impose respect, beyond any critical discourse. Written by Mohammad Rasoulof (“The seeds of the wild figure”) who chose exile to continue to create, “seven days” by Ali Samadi Ahadi is an ode to the fighting and especially to the personality of Iranian Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize in 2023, who sacrificed his personal life and his health to carry the voice of millions of Iranian women “imprisoned” tyrannical and misogynistic religious ”. Israeli and American bombs did not cause the hoped -for political change and the fate of Narges Mohammadi, released from prison in December 2024 for medical reasons, is still uncertain.
But back to the film. If he is inspired by the figure of the human rights activist, the scenario of Mohammad Rasoulof is exciting (and we imagine him very personal and documented) when he tells the tests that an Iranian figure must pass to leave his country in hiding. The film then turns into a snowy “survival” where the slightest bad encounter can be fatal. In the main role, the actress Vishka Asayeh, a banner of State Iranian cinema for having interpreted the role of Myriam Tête Découverte, touches the heart when she tries to reconnect with her children and in particular with her teenage girl, magnificent character. The tender lullaby will make you flow a few tears … that these then turn into a protest and support torrent. Iranian women need it.
