Despite more than two hours of battle, Canadian Carson Brantine confessed over the first round of the Omnium National Bank on Monday in Montreal.
The task promised to be difficult against Greek Maria Sakkari, former third player in the world ranking. It was the latter who had the last word by the score of 6-2, 3-6 and 7-5.

After a complicated first round, Brantine then went there with several remarkable shots. Indeed, she saved the three broken bales which she faced in the second round, winning 85 % of the points available when she owned the first balls.
The third round was the scene of a much more balanced opposition, but it was ultimately Sakkari who had the last word. It is however during the second services that the native of Irvine, in California, will have experienced the most difficulties throughout the game.
In the next round, Sakkari will face the American Jessica Pegula.
