A beautiful workshop around the book in the 18th century for the PRE and the Local Mission

The Denis-Diderot House of Lights proposed a project on the book in the XVIIIe century, throughout the month of July. Eight young people from the educational success program (PRE) and two of the Local Mission participated.

The starting point for this project was the encyclopedia, kept at the Maison des enlusres Denis-Diderot. The young people were able to visit the museum first and participate in an engraving workshop to understand how the books were made in the 18th century. They were also able to visit and discover the functioning of the Marcel-Arland media library, but also its old books fund.

During the project, divided into several sessions, the young people were able to imagine and create their own history by being inspired by the engravings of the encyclopedia, with the help of Claire Gondor, also a member of the association the other half of the sky. Gaëlle Chauveaux, from the Magic Words factory, helped them follow the different printing stages that allowed them to carry out an impression of their writing work.

This project is involved as part of the city contract, and was funded by the Summer Quarter system. It will have enabled young people to strengthen their openness, their intellectual curiosity, but also to strengthen their educational achievements or to flourish through a creative activity. A restitution took place Tuesday, July 29, which delighted the guests, like the young people, who appreciated typing on the old typewriter and created from A to Z their own papers and notebooks.
