Netflix will allow Kathryn Bigelow to come back to the front of the stage with A House of DynamiteThriller, a new image of which has been revealed.
Kathryn Bigelow has not made films since 2017 and his suffocating Detroitwhich returned to the racial riots of 1967 and in particular the awful events of the Motel Algiers. Fortunately for us, the platform has not forgotten Kathryn Bigelow and thus entrusted him with the political thriller A House of Dynamite. The film is still very mysterious before its presentation at the Venice Mostra, but The first images are gradually starting to fall for our greatest happiness.

“When an unknown provenance missile is launched on the United States, a race is committed to determine who is responsible and how to react”. This is the pitch that Netflix had revealed for A House of Dynamite In June, accompanied by a very basic poster where we saw the silhouette of a soldier (probably a navy) on a red background. Since then, no information has leaked, but two first photos have been revealed by the Venice Mostra and already give an idea of the atmosphere to come.
The first image (known since July) follows the character of Gabriel Basso (in a role still unknown), case in hand, in a dark corridor. We can assume that he is walking in the undergrounds of the White House, not far from the presidential bunker, since it is a question of a nuclear threat and that he is surrounded by two armed men. The second Rebecca Ferguson watch (with a role also unknown but named Olivia Walker) in A crisis room that presages an extreme emergency situation (given the screens with government meetings, impact estimates and simulated trajectory of a missile).
It is obviously not much, but at this stage, we will be satisfied to increase our impatience. In any case, the Venice Biennial X account described the film as “A trip to the madness of a world under the constant threat of annihilation”. Last July, Alberto Barbera, the director of the Venetian festival, said this about A House of Dynamite :
“Revealing part of the plot would be a bad service to the film, which plays on fears that could not be more contemporary: those linked to the absurd use of atomic weapons. The evocation of the possibility of a nuclear disaster is however not exposed through a carnage, but by the daily details of broken lives. »»
This should allow the filmmaker to continue to explore America, after her historical trilogy Zero Dark Thirty, deminers et Detroitthis time through a work of fiction and Maybe still in real time given the starting point (as Detroit SO). A narrative choice that could make the tension grow as you go and immerse ourselves in a terrifying situation, especially with the help of Noah Oppenheim in the scenario (sir behind Jackie, The labyrinth or the series Zero Day of Netflix precisely).
Alongside Gabriel Basso and Rebecca Ferguson (the only ones who have been revealed in images so far), there will be a gold casting with Idris Elba, Jason Clarke, Greta Lee, Anthony Ramos, Kaitlyn Dever, Jared Harris or Tracy Letts. The film will be presented in competition for the Golden Lion in Venice on September 2, before a limited outing in theaters in the United States in, but In France, he will be released on Netflix on October 24, 2025.
