Canal+ and BeIN Sports in conflict with the new Ligue 1+ channel

In 15 days, the French football championship will launch its 2025-2026 season. For broadcasting, The Professional Football League (LFP) has decided to set up its own channel. But that doesn’t rejoice everyone.

After the fiasco of the 2024-2025 season with Dazn, the LFP made the decision to break its contract with the British platform. And, this time, the League wants to stand on its own two feet. So, She created her channel, Ligue 1+, and will broadcast eight out of nine – The ninth being owned by BeIN Sports. The subscription will amount to 14.99 euros per month with a year’s commitment, and 19.99 euros per month without commitment.

However, at present, We do not know who will broadcast this League platform. Because Canal and Bein refused, and lately, the two put sticks in the wheels so that Ligue 1+ misses.

No advertising, blocked journalists, no first choice

First of all, The encrypted chain and the Franco-Qatar group refused to sell advertising spaces to the LFP to promote Ligue 1+. Afterwards, Canal blocked employee departures for roles of journalists or consultants. For his part, bein would like the LFP to remove the restriction on the first and the second choice every other week. This in order to have the first choice every week. And, consequently, Ligue 1+ would never broadcast the best poster of the weekend.
