Martine Rouche will be in dedication on Monday August 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Librairie des covers de Coralie heavy for her work Mirepoix in archives, a passion, a real mine of information and stories on Mirepoix.
“This work is the fruit of more than twenty years of research and study of the archives, first municipal, at the time when they were at the town hall, then departmental in Foix, and then itinerant in Occitanie, according to my favorites for a subject or a character. I am a member of the Cartophile club, not as a collector but as a collector of information conveyed by postcards, because Ancient as precious testimonies of the past.
The president of the Cartophile club, Alain Laurent, and the treasurer, Huguette Perilhou, offered to make a compilation of my conferences and all the articles that I had written in the municipal bulletin, adding that they would take care of the edition. It could have been simple, but my knowledge evolves and I needed to review everything, to restructure everything. I had longer articles that I had not had the opportunity to publish, art history studies … I worked for more than a year on this project with great pleasure. I found it exhilarating to have this opportunity to publish all my research. For the cover, I had the great pleasure of being able to use an unknown painting by François Brustier (1884-1914), a talented mirapician painter.
In the table of contents, we discover: History and architecture of heritage, inspiring women and historical personalities, music in Mirepoix, the singular route of Rodolphe arrived, some events of the real life over time (three epidemics, a ambush, the bread of the hospital redistributed to the destitute, the notebooks of the daily life of a nun …) and all a chapter dedicated to art. Each article I wrote corresponds to a crush on a subject, a need to know more about the traces of the past in Mirepoix.
This work is four hundred and fifty pages, but it should not intimidate or discourage readers. We can read it from start to finish, of course, but we can also enter it by theme, by subject, by time … it is a descriptive guide of the city!
My wish would be to encourage people who will read this book to appropriate the local heritage after reading the description, to give birth to the curiosity of this heritage before which we pass every day without stopping.
