On May 10, four generations of Aulonnais and friends met at the citizen space of the town around the Memoirs of Maurice Dubarry, their former mayor.
Before reading his work “Peregrination in Utopia … Creator”, edited by the association “Books en Bigorre”, they have heard or relive the history of their village since the sixties.
At that time, the Saint-Lary ski resort aroused all hopes for development for an economic suffering region. But Aulon wanted to keep her farms, her farms. They called upon the village son, professor in Lannemezan and convinced self -management activist. Together, they welcomed young breeders who occupied the barns built by the town and the houses made available to them. The inhabitants regained confidence in their future and by a succession of common actions, the village is gradually growing.
The inhabitants, now gathered around Jean-Bertrand Dubarry, continue in the same momentum: attentive to their environment throughout the year (association “La Fraêtte”) and in a collective manner, they bring a chicken coop, a bar and the “Nature Festival” this Friday, August 1.
All generations are delighted with these different actions which make them proud and happy to live in this village.
Book available in local bookstores, at the “Cantou” in Aulon and at the headquarters of “Books en Bigorre” in Tournay.
