Chambord, the Château de la Due. Four thousand square meters of living space, 156 meters of facade, 282 chimneys, 5,000 hectares of enclosed forest by a 32 -kilometer surrounding wall. And above all, a Renaissance architecture, recognizable among all, which makes the world renown of the building located in the Loir-et-Cher.
In 2024, some 2 million visitors preceded themselves at the national domain of Chambord, which placed it on the second step of the podium of the most visited castles in France after Versailles. However, not furnished, Chambord suffers from a somewhat cold image with its “empty” interior, and ultimately remains little associated with the Renaissance of which it is however the greatest European representation.
Its park, where free deer and wild boars are evolving in particular, represents a major asset still under-exploited, for lack of a really organized plan. “” Our 2025-2030 establishment project, baptized Renaissance and revolutions, wishes to respond to this double issue, explains Pierre Dubreuil, director general of the national domain of Chambord since 2023.It is a question of replacing the interior of the castle at the heart of its time, the Renaissance, but also the beginning of the reign of Louis XIV. The François I wing which symbolizes this period, is no longer open to the public for security issues. It will be fully restored. And, a new forest development plan is also on the program.»
