The city of Castelnau-le-Lez launches a call for citizen participation. Until September 19, 2025a survey collects the proposals of the inhabitants to install five new book boxes. They will complete the four devices already present on the territory. The current boxes are at the Maisons des Proximités Mas de Rochet, Eureka and Caylus, as well as in the DEVOIS shared garden. The new installations will emerge in 2026 thanks to municipal services.
A book box allows you to deposit the books from which you want to separate. Everyone can then take it freely. This system encourages the discovery of unexpected and free readings. According to the town hall, it promotes conviviality. We place books there, we take it, we talk about it between neighbors, ”said the press release.
Strategic locations to be defined
Residents are invited to favor frequented places: proximity to shops, public structures, schools or walking areas. Proposals must meet several criteria. The box must be on the public domain, stay accessible on foot and be visible. It should not be placed too close to a library or a bookstore.
