Wednesday season 2: Who is the mysterious woman saved by the heroine in episode 4?

The end of episode 4 of season 2 introduces a brand new character, who could have an important importance: a woman locked up in Willow Hill for many years. But who is exactly and what role will it play in the rest of Wednesdaysur Netflix ?

Wednesday still has a lot of surprises to reveal to us. The first four episodes of season 2, posted on August 6, 2025 on Netflix, thus answered a very small part of our questions, to better leave us some clues on the rest.

Among these few crumbs left for the attention of attentive fans, is the presence of a new character: a woman saved by Wednesday from the psychiatric hospital of Willow Hill, in episode 4. Several theories already circulate on her identity, which could take many forms in this season 2, which finally does justice to the daughter of the Addams family.

Please note, the rest of this article contains spoilers in season 2 of Wednesday.

Is she Ophelia, Morticia’s sister?

This is the most likely hypothesis, and our favorite little one. Ophelia, Morticia’s little sister, disappeared over twenty years ago, after having undergone a forced stay in Willow Hill. The cause? His famous visions, similar to those on Wednesday, which had caused black tears on his face, terrifying his classmates in passing. His mother, Hester, then decided to lock him in the nearest psychiatric hospital.

Morticia, terrified at the idea that Wednesday follows the same path as his sister, is therefore particularly protective with her daughter, in this season 2, going so far as to burn the famous book by Goody. We even learn that, in the past, Morticia Addams asked the fetid uncle to be interned in Willow Hill, in order to watch over Ophelia. He then discovered that she had mysteriously evaporated in nature.

But in reality, she could have integrated, in spite of herself, the famous law program, brought to light by Wednesday at the end of episode 4. She would then have been subjected to experiments on the part of Judi and her father, Augustus Stonehearst, in order to exploit her powers to give supernatural capacities to humans. This would explain that it is locked up in a cell and that it particularly attracts the look of Wednesday, when they meet: the woman lurking in the shadows, interpreted by Frances O’Connor, would actually be Ophelia.

Note that the character of Ophelia has appeared in many adaptations of the Addams familyincluding the original series of the 1960s and the two films of the 1990s. It would therefore be logical that she ended up making her big entry into the small world of Wednesdayeven if some rumors whisper that Lady Gaga could rather be the happy elected, chosen to play Ophelia.

Or rather Tyler’s mother?

Fans bet on another theory, just as family: this woman locked up in Willow Hill would rather be Tyler’s mother, Françoise Galpin. We already know that the latter has been locked up at Willow Hill, to try to control the Hyde who is in her, and that she genetically transmitted to her son. However, so far, the series had rather mentioned its premature death.

However, for the needs of the Secret Law program, many deaths have been simulated in Willow Hill. Could Françoise Galpin be one of those unfortunate tortured souls? In any case, this would make the link with Donovan, Tyler’s father, who was just investigating the psychiatric hospital and his dangerous methods, before his death. Tyler, meanwhile, insists that Miss Thornhill is not his mother, but only her master, in episode 4, which could suggest large reunions in part 2.

Another clue that would confirm this hypothesis: the cell in which the character is locked up bears the mention “extreme deposit”, suggesting that the prisoner requires particularly reinforced security. A rather logical warning, if we consider that it is indeed a hyde.

Finally, Wednesday seems to have already confirmed that it is Françoise Galpin, according to the specialized site Comicbook. First, his physical appearance corresponds to the few photos that we had already seen from Tyler’s mother, in season 1. But above all, the credits mentioning the dubbing of each country expressly quotes a certain Françoise, among the protagonists of the series. This clearly cannot be a simply coincidence.

Or a perfect unknown?

It would be very surprising, but it is still possible. The character, however unprecedented as it may be, should still have capital importance in the rest of season 2, which will be available on Netflix from September 3, 2025.
