Publication of a new work youth on Montérégie
By: Olivier called
The series “Les Régions du Québec” from the “SAVE” collection of Quebec America has a whole new volume, entirely devoted to Montérégie, nicknamed “Le Guard-Manger du Québec”. This children’s book targeting a 9-year reader gives pride of place to the Vallée-Du-Richelieu, well present in several pages.
The 32 -page book, written by Émilie Rivard and illustrated by Julie Fontaine Ferron, tackles not only geography and popular activity sectors in the administrative region, but also her history and her legends. The Richelieu river as well as Mont Saint-Hilaire are important places mentioned several times through the pages of the book, in particular concerning the view of unidentified flying objects near the mountain. There is also talk of the patriots and the battle won in Saint-Denis in 1837, as well as the ice crisis which hardly touched Montérégie in 1998.
A few pages of the book are also devoted to public figures from Montérégie, including actor and director Yan England, who always remains in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Note that the house of Aboriginal peoples of Mont-Saint-Hilaire appears in a page dedicated to First Nations, even if the museum institution is currently closed, for lack of agreement with the city of Mont-Saint-Hilaire.
The book Montérégie is on sale in all bookstores from August 26.
