The red shadows on TF1: what is this family saga worth with Manon Azem worth? – News series on TV

This Thursday evening, TF1 broadcasts the first three episodes of “Les ombres Rouges”, an engaging family saga with Nadia Farès and Manon Azem. Does the series deserve the glance? Our criticism.

In March 2019, C8 launched the broadcasting of Les ombres Rouges, its first (and only) original fiction. Produced by Cyril Hanouna, this suspense series was followed by nearly 900,000 viewers during its first broadcast evening.

A little over 6 years later, TF1 will repeat from this Thursday, July 31, at 9:10 p.m. the first three episodes of the red shadows.

A breathtaking family saga

The red shadows began in 1993, while Clara, 5, was removed. To release it, her kidnappers require a very large sum of money. Unfortunately, ransom exchange ends in blood bath and Clara’s mother is killed while the child will never reappear again. Living or dead, this disappearance causes lively trauma throughout the region.

25 years later, Aurore Garnier, Clara’s older sister who is convinced that she is still alive, has become a police officer. During an investigation, she discovers that Clara is still alive but lives under another identity without knowing her origins.

Aurore will do everything to make Clara find her family. But this unexpected return will trigger a series of violent events and bring back to the surface of family secrets that everyone thought they were buried forever …

A five -star casting

After having kept one of the main roles of Marseille on Netflix, Nadia Farès (the purple rivers, nest of wasps) lends her features to the character of Aurore Garnier, the heroine cop of the saga the red shadows, who remains haunted by the disappearance of her little sister 25 years ago and who will do everything to discover the truth.

Faced with her, it is Manon Azem, notably known to TF1 viewers for her participation in research section series and more recently Mercato, who campaigns Clara, this missing sister who suddenly surfaced in the life of her family, although she ignores her past.

The rest of the Garnier clan is notably composed of the brothers of Aurore and Clara, Gabriel and Frédéric, embodied respectively by Lannick Gautry (aims at the heart, everything for the light) and Raphaël Lenglet (Candice Renoir), and of the patriarch Jacques, played by Antoine Duléry.

A nice brochette of actors to which is added, among others, Mhamed Arezki (unfaithful), who therefore finds for the occasion Raphaël Lenglet, his former acolyte of the series Les Bleus: first steps in the police.

A saga that devours with pleasure

The red shadows, which combines Soap and police intrigue, brings together all the elements of the genus in a assumed manner. Family secrets, past that reappears, murders do you want it here, chain revelations, sunny Mediterranean decor, everything is there.

And the good news for fans of the big sagas and stories of tortured families is that the red shadows, created by Sébastien Le Dérézir and co-produced by H2O Productions, the production company of Cyril Hanouna, is very quickly addictive and rather well put together.

Nadia Farès makes a nice winning return in the shoes of Aurore Garnier, while the rest of the cast is also doing very well, Manon Azem, Mhamed Arezki, and Rémi Pedevilla (who plays Romain, the husband of Aurore) in mind.

The red shadows even pays the luxury of offering an interesting score to play almost all of its actors, who thus have the opportunity to shine at least once over the six episodes, which is quite rare to be underlined.

Obviously, some shots and some large strings inherent in the saga are present, but it is also what makes the charm of the genre and should delight lovers of the genre.

Especially since the breathless intrigue does not skimp on twists and sometimes allows itself a certain audacity, as at the end of episode 5, which reshapes the cards in a way that we had not seen coming.

In short, despite some imperfections and a final a disappointing hair in its resolution, the red shadows stands out as a saga which holds almost all its promises and devours with pleasure.

Find the red shadows on Thursdays July 31 and August 7 on TF1.
