The parquet floor of La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée) indicates Friday August 1 in Franceinfo to have requested a trial before the Assize Court of Michel Pialle for “murder by spouse”, confirming information from the Parisian.
Karine Esquivallon, mother of five, disappeared on March 27, 2023, without leaving any other known trace than a mobile phone discovered two weeks later in a gap by the mayor of the town. A call for witnesses was launched two months later, in May, to try to find it. At the end of May, her husband said he was convinced that his wife had left “Voluntarily” Their home in Maché (Vendée), which some children and the sister of the fifties were doubted.
In June of the same year, two chargers as well as a silencer was found in the La Vie river, near Lake Apremont (Vendée), not far from the home of Karine Esquivallon, whose body was finally found on June 16 after her husband’s confessions. The silencer as well as the chargers were found in a place indicated by Michel Pialle during his police custody. The husband told investigators that he accidentally killed his wife by manipulating a weapon.
Sports shooter with several firearms, Michel Pialle had declared to the gendarmes “Having killed his wife on March 27, 2023 with a rifle 22 long rifle equipped with a silencer”, “Journal accidentally”according to the La Roche-sur-Yon prosecution. He was then indicted for “murder by spouse” and placed in pre -trial detention. A white march in memory of the victim was organized in Maché in July 2023. In October 2024, Michel Pialle, the main suspect in the murder of his wife, maintained the thesis of the accident during the reconstruction of the facts which was carried out in Maché.
