Singer Luck Mervil was found guilty of sexual assault, 25 years old after raping a 19 -year -old woman in a Rimouski hotel room after a show.
“There is no reasonable doubt about his guilt. It is clear in the spirit of the court that the victim experienced a sexual assault that evening, “said judge James Rondeau in his decision made Thursday morning.
Luck Mervil’s trial, accused of sexual assault, was held last February. The victim had described an evening of Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cauchemardesque and humiliating. According to his story, the artist, met in a Rimouski bar, had drugged her and then raped in a hotel room on the night of June 23 to 24, 2000.
Luck Mervil had denied everything in his testimony. The accused believed that the complainant had made mistakes on the person. The ex-singer of the Rudeluck group, among others known for its performance in the musical Notre-Dame de Parishad even appointed several examples of black Quebec celebrities with whom he was often confused at the time of aggression.
