Rise Against lifts the veil on Ricochetthe song that gives its title to his next album expected this Friday, offering a last overview of a disc under the sign of interconnection and resistance.
A message of solidarity at the heart of Ricochet
Four years later Nowhere GenerationRise Against is about to publish Ricochethis tenth album, August 15 via Loma Vista Recordings. The eponymous song, unveiled today, is the last taste. Carried by a mixture of acoustics, rhythmic programming and punk rock energy, it highlights a central theme: collective responsibility. Tim Mcilrath explains: “We depend on each other, whether we wanted it or not. What we do, in good or bad, creates a large ricochet effect”.
The piece is accompanied by a powerful clip, illustrating the opposition between carelessness and destruction. The singer specifies: “Even our silence and our detachment have a weight”. This visual and sound contrast reflects, according to him, the current era, where indifference rubs shoulders with the crisis.
An album between lucidity and emergency
Produced by Catherine Marks and mixed by Alan Moulder, Ricochet promises to be a work that is both introspective and committed. Over the course of twelve songs, the group addresses subjects such as the rise of nationalisms, unwarmed promises, mental health or the impact of algorithms, while retaining a glimmer of hope. The tracklist includes in particular Nod, I Want It All et Prizefighteralready praised by the specialized press, a subject that we had discussed in this previous article.
