The quarter recruit of the Cleveland Browns, Shedeur Sanders, remained on the side lines in training Thursday due to an injury to the oblique muscles, and it is unlikely that he will participate in the preparatory match against the Eagles of Philadelphia.
Sanders suffered this injury during an exercise before the Browns training session on Wednesday. Sanders and the Browns are in Philadelphia in order to take part in two joint training sessions with the Eagles, before their preparatory match on Saturday.
The Browns said that Sanders’ state of health will be reassessed on a daily basis.
Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski said before the training session on Thursday that Sanders will be away “for a short time”, and added that the team prefers to play caution with him because the ex-star player of the University of Colorado is “a passer”.
“If you are a guard on the right side, you can ignore it,” said Stefanski. When you are a quarter, you need this muscle to uncheck your pass. »»
Sanders is not officially dismissed from the match on Saturday. Stefanski indicated that the quarter reservist Joe Flacco will not face the Eagles. Tyler “Snoop” Huntley and Dillon Gabriel should get most of the playing time. Kenny Pickett is limited due to an injury in the ischiojambier muscles.
Sanders completed 14 of his 23 passing attempts for 138 yards of winnings and two affected in Kaden Davis in the first half, on the way to a victory against the Panthers of Caroline in her first preparatory match in the NFL on Friday evening.
The Browns selected Sanders in fifth round, 144th in total, during the last draft of the NFL.
This late choice surprised more than one, especially since Sanders finished eighth in the ballot for the Heisman trophy, given to the NCAA’s ultimate player last season. He then had just established a record at the University of Colorado by raising 4134 yards of winnings.
