The 78th Locarno Film Festival honored US actress and director Lucy Liu on Thursday by giving her the Career Achievement Award. The absence of privileges was a gift for her, child of immigrants, said Liu on the Grande Piazza.
(Keystone-ATS) Lucy Liu climbed the steps leading to the Piazza Grande scene, dressed in a sparkling dress with wing -shaped sleeves. “This energy around us is spectacular,” she said before mentioning its origins.
This prize speaks in which the actress has learned to love, she said. His parents, immigrants, strongly influenced her. “They sharpened my perception of stories on the sidelines,” she added, believing that the absence of privileges was a chance for her.
“I have the impression here this evening that my career is just beginning,” she said.
“Rosemead” in the world first
The actress’s new film, “Rosemead”, was then screened worldwide in Locarno. Lucy Liu became known by her roles in “Charlie’s Angels” (2000), “Chicago” (2002) “Kill Bill” (2003 and 2004) or more recently in “Old Guy” (2024).
