No more “entertainment”

Next October, the expectation of fans of the Kaamelott series will finally be rewarded. Kaamelott: First part had been released in 2021, in a context plagued by the pandemic, an era which now seems distant. The continuation arrives in two parts: the first of the second part of the saga will be released October 22while the second part will follow a few weeks later, the November 11th. A choice that Alexandre Astier, the creator of Kaamelottjustifies by the density of his story.

“It is a long component, made up of many parallel stories, which deserves to dwell on it. I would not have compressed this in two hours. But it is indeed a unique component: a single clear unit of time, the same worlds, the same adventurers … And above all, the same shoot, of more than eight months. There is no ellipse between these two parts, and they may, in the end, be seen in the aftermath of each other as a single great film. Like a big book cut in half, a long spectacle with intermission ”.

The first chapter of this second part is revealed in a mysterious trailer, highlighting the wacky gallery of the characters who contributed to the success of the series, as well as the scenes evoking a long journey. The whole thing ends with a furtive appearance of King Arthur, still embodied by an Alexandre Astier disillusioned. The synopsis remains cryptic for the moment, but it seems that the king is trying to bring together volunteers to go on an adventure.

“This is the chapter where Arthur sends his knights – veterans or novices, longtime companions or recruits of the year – on an adventure. It is therefore a colossal number of characters, grouped in teams, who leave the round table to prove their value and their courage around the world ”

A XXL casting with a “but”

In this teaser of less than a minute, we obviously find the legendary round table and the historic figures that accompany it, interpreted in particular by Alain Chabat (the Duke of Aquitaine), Audrey Fleurot (La Dame du Lac), Christian Clavier (Le Jurisconsulte), Lionel Astier (Léodagan), Anne Girouard (Guenièvre) and many others.

The full cast consists of many familiar faces, passed by the series, as well as newcomers. However, Perceval de Wales, embodied by Franck Pitiot, one of the favorite characters of the fans, seems to be missing at the call. An absence which does not leave indifferent on social networks and which has not yet been justified

A separate trilogy

Kaamelott is a series with sketches broadcast from 2005 to 2009. With a colossal success, the series went from a short and comic format to a longer and dramatic format. Although it is strongly recommended to discover the universe before to grasp all the references and subtleties, the cinematographic adaptation, released a decade later, is intended to be autonomous.

Alexandre Astier explained that this trilogy is aimed at fans as well as those who do not yet know Kaamelott and who discover the work. Nevertheless, the two films to come with direct consequences of the first part released in 2021, a new viewing will probably not be too much.
