A mysterious sender gave a library in June 2025, a book borrowed since 1943.
A book borrowed in July 1943 was finally returned to the San Antonio public library (Texas, United States), with almost 82 years late.
As reported CBSNewsthe book “Your child, his family and his friends” by Frances Bruce Strain was to be returned 28 days after his loan. But in a publication made on Facebook Thursday August 14, the library indicated that the book had been returned to it only in June 2025, accompanied by a letter, signed “PAAG”
The author of the mail said he found the book in the affairs of his father, who died recently.
“The book had to be borrowed by my grandmother,” he wrote, adding that his father was 11 years old in 1943, and that his grandmother had been transferred to Mexico in the same year, to work at the Embassy of the United States. “She had to take the book with her,” he added.
Then add a touch of irony: “I hope there will be no delay fees, because grandmother will no longer be able to pay.”
According to the library, the fine of delay would be around 900 dollars (around 770 euros) if it had been applied.
Described as a parental self-assistance book from the 1940s, this book, currently on display, will soon be sold.
