This debate around the political orientation of superheroes is not new. The historian William Blanc, author of “Super -hero, a political story”, classified class clearly on the left: he fights for social justice and represents a figure of the migrant and the melting pot American. In his 2025 version, Superman also faces a wave of distrust because he is an alien who comes from elsewhere and which must be wary of intentions.
Conversely, Batman could, at first glance, be a hero who embodies right values: he is very rich, places security at the heart of his fight by stopping the criminals. But Bruce Wayne, his alter ego, is rather liberal with a social conscience; He struggles in favor of the poorest, like a rich wood Robin.
In all cases, according to experts, superheroes always defend distant values from the extreme right: they defend values of equality, just distribution of wealth and peace in the world. And it’s even more blatant in this new Superman. To finish on a small reference to Orelsan: “FN guys have the same head as the bad guys in the films (simple). Between having principles and being a dirty con, the line is very fine (basic).”
