The performance of Danny Worsnop at Warped Tour De Washington has aroused an avalanche of criticisms on Reddit, some fans going so far as to claim his departure from Asking Alexandria.
A contested performance that divides fans
Since the concert of June 15, the Reddit section dedicated to Asking Alexandria has been boiling. Many Internet users judge the vocal performance of Worsnop disappointing: his unequal, absence of Scream on the last songs, and attitude deemed nonchalant. Completely dressed in black, folded hood, gloves with hands and partly masked face, the singer confused part of the public.
If he sang very live – thereby denying the rumors of Playback -, several spectators underlined a problematic vocal balance, his voice being sometimes barely audible, then suddenly too strong. Videos circulating on YouTube confirm these volume variations. The final of the concert, where Worsnop avoids screams and is content to wander on stage (based on the accompaniment tracks), particularly fueled criticism.
Calls that make controversy
For some fans, this concert represents a breaking point. The debates on the involvement of Worsnop in the group are resurfaced, some going so far as to demand its withdrawal from ASKANGE Alexandria – a request deemed excessive by others. These calls were widely relayed online by various specialized media.
For his part, bassist Sam Bettley briefly reacted on Instagram by responding “Yes, indeed” to a fan asking him if his message of excuse (“I’m sorry”) referred to this concert.
Asking Alexandria is expected for a new date of Warped Tour Long Beach in July. A crucial meeting that could allow Worsnop to win back part of its audience.
