Canadians: Jakub Dobeš leaves the machine after recharging the batteries in early summer

As of mid-September, Jakub Dobeš will have the mandate to cement his place as a reservist for Montreal Canadians.

But before starting its third season in the professional ranks this fall, Dobeš does not hide to say that he appreciated being able to abandon hockey somewhat since the end of the Tricolore course on April 30.

The young porter lent himself to an interview with RDS As part of his participation in the Sportlife camp on Thursday, in the Brébeuf college.

“I try to put hockey aside for a few months. It is good to think about it a little less in order to bring the excitement back. (…) I like to take that time to simply train, have fun, see family, and then come back ready to attack the season and their challenges, about a month and a half before the camp, ”said the sympathetic goalkeeper to our colleague Catherine Savoie.

On July 6, Dobeš affixed his name to the bottom of a new two -season contract binding him to the Habs. He will receive $ 965,000 annually, but above all, he will have an opportunity to prove that he is a guardian who deserves to evolve in the NHL full -time.

This vote of confidence occurred after he obtained his first 14 career departures in the Bettman circuit.

In support of Samuel Montembeault as of the end of December, he compiled a 7-4-3 sheet, with an average of goals allocated of 2.74 and an efficiency of 90.9 %.

“It’s great to have two more years in Montreal. I really appreciate having the chance, and I can’t wait to play two more seasons with this organization.

The objective is to access the series and make a push for the cut. We form a very competitive group of guys. Everyone wants us to do something special together for this city. »»

Dobeš said he was used to this kind of day devoted to having fun with young hockey players.

“When I was at Ohio State University, each year we had a day of the genre dedicated to children. It always makes me happy to participate in this kind of initiative. It’s pleasant to see how enthusiastic they are. There are smiles everywhere, a little nervousness in the air. It reminds me when I was their age, and camps of the genre were offered, allowing to share the ice with pros players. »»

“I try to make a few stops here and there, but you will not see me getting angry if the young people mark at my expense today,” said the 24 -year -old Czech.

Some other Dobeš declarations:

– about the rest he has granted himself in recent months

“I did not have a specific communication channel with the staff. I stay in contact with a few guys who stay in the area. But for the rest, it was especially beneficial to recharge the batteries. This is my first interview in two months, I am a little rusty! »»

– On the subject of the arrival of Kaapo Kähkönen via the market of autonomy

“A little additional competition will never be wrong. This is how we offer its best performance. »»

– about the exchange bringing Noah Dobson to the metropolis

“I only faced it once last year. But enough to see that he is a very good player, and a very nice addition for us. His contributions are on both sides of the rink. He joins a super good group of guys. A group that is eager to meet and start a new season. »»
