In 1961, he founded the group La Perfecta, which had redefined salsa by replacing the trumpets with trombones. Four years later, his song “Azucar Pa’ti” had been all the rage on the dance tracks.

The first Latin artist to win a Grammy Award with his album “The Sun of Latin Music” (he will receive ten in total in his life). Palmieri is known to have profoundly transformed Latin jazz and salsa during his more than 70 years of career, mixing it with funk black notebook: legend latin music and soul.
