Bencic stopped in the 3rd round by Muchova – Rts.ch

Belinda Bencic (WTA 20) was stopped in the 16th round of the WTA 1000 in Montreal on Friday. The Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion bowed 6-7 (5/7) 6-2 6-3 ahead of Karolina Muchova (14).

Exempted as the Czech of the 1st round as seeded, Belinda Bencic will therefore have won only one match in Quebec, in the 2nd round to push the Canadian Eugenie Bouchard to retirement. Friday, it was largely dominated after the gain of a very long first set (1h19 ‘).

The semi-finalist of the last Wimbledon signed only one break against Karolina Muchova, in the first game of the match, which the Czech was able to erase immediately. And it only obtained two opportunities for recovery throughout the last two rounds of a part which lasted 2h43 ‘.

Belinda Bencic, who had erased a first set at 5-4 on his commitment, nevertheless flew over the debates in the tie-break. But she conceded her service four times in the last two sets four times, facing a player who had not won two matches in a row on the circuit since March in Indian Wells.
