Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on his allies on Wednesday to put pressure on Moscow and counter any Russian “deception” before a meeting with European leaders and Donald Trump.
“You have to put pressure on Russia to obtain fair peace. We must use the experience of Ukraine and our partners in order to prevent any deception on the part of Russia, “he said in a message on Telegram. “There is currently no sign indicating that the Russians prepare to end the war,” he added.
Mr. Zelensky has to go to Berlin on Wednesday for this meeting on peace in Ukraine, on the initiative of Germany and France, before the summit on Friday between the American president and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The meeting is held as Russia operated on Tuesday a rapid military advance in the East Ukrainian, threatening strategic cities like Pokrovsk and Dobropillia. This situation on the front “did not influence” the preparations for the meeting in Berlin, assured AFP a member of the Ukrainian delegation.
“It is not the first time that they (the Russians, NLDR) have used this infiltration tactic, but the main thing is to kill them,” said this source under the cover of anonymity, assuring that Ukraine has sent “additional forces” that operate in the area.
Ukraine fears that the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on Friday, scheduled for the time being without the participation of their Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, will lead to an agreement which would force her to give up parts of her territory to Russia.
