Bayern wins the Super Cup, the second trophy for Kane

The Munichois, well helped by a goal from their recruit Luis Diaz, won the trophy on the lawn of Stuttgart (2-1).

Thanks in particular to a goal from his attacker Harry Kane, Bayern went to win the Franz-Beckenbauer Supercup on the lawn of Stuttgart (2-1), launching his season on a good basis, with a second trophy for the English international.

Three months after winning the German championship for its second season in Bavaria, Harry Kane added a second collective trophy to his wardrobe, he who collected individual distinctions.

This is the 11th time that the Munich club has won the match between the champion and the Cup winner who traditionally launched the football season in Germany, bearing for the first time the name of the German football legend, who died in January 2024 at 78 years.

In the Stadion Stadion Nedion of Studion full (60,000 spectators) but very quiet or even silent, the Munichois dominated the debates, confirming the good impressions left during the very short summer preparation, and in particular the victory against Tottenham (4-0) at the Allianz Arena ten days ago.

Luis Diaz opens his counter

To compensate for the absence on injury of Jamal Musiala, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany placed the Frenchman Michael Olise in the center of offensive animation, with Serge Gnabry on the right and Luis Diaz on the left. On an olise ball badly returned by the defense of Stuttgart, Harry Kane was not asked to resume directly at the entrance to the surface and opened the scoring in the 18th minute.

Two years and four days after his first missed in the Bayern jersey, already in Supercup against Leipzig (3-0 defeat), Kane is 86 goals in 97 matches played with Munich. Nonexistent for around twenty minutes, Sebastian Hoeness’s men woke up a bit later to rebalance the debates. But the center-forward Nick Woltemade, alone at the penalty spot after having taken the best on Joshua Kimmich, came up against Manuel Neuer (24th minute).

After a new reflex parade of Neuer at the start of the last quarter of an hour (76th), the Munichois took hold with the first goal of one of their summer recruits, the Colombian Luis Diaz, who perfectly crossed his head on a center of Gnabry in the 77th minute. Leweling reduced the brand in additional time (90th+3), to no avail.
