An American millionaire died during a hunting game in South Africa. Asher Watkins, 52, was suddenly attacked by an African buffalo last Sunday, according to Hans Vermaak, head of CV Safaris, the company in charge of shipping.
The drama occurred on the second day of the safari in the province of Limpopo, according to the British newspaper The Telegraph. Asher Watkins, who owned cattle ranchs in the United States, participated in a hunt for trophies whose cost is estimated at $ 10,000. For this price, participants are accompanied by a professional hunter and a tray.
The mother, stepfather and Asher’s brother were waiting in a nearby lodge when the incident occurred. In a tribute published on social networks, Shannon Wherry, knowledge of the deceased, wrote:
“In a moment of fearlessness, when he lived his life fully, he took up the challenge, and left this world as a man filled with courage, faith and spirit of adventure”
Asher Watkins was at the head of Watkins Group, a company active in livestock farming in the States of Texas and Oklahoma. Thanks to this, he would have built a fortune of several million. Passionate about hunting, he regularly posed with his trophies on social networks.

The African buffalo (Syncerus Caffe) is one of the famous “Big Five” (the five emblematic animals for hunters) alongside the elephant, lion, leopard and rhinoceros. It is found in large herds in savannas, forests and wetlands located south of the Sahara – especially in national parks such as Kruger or Serengeti.
Massifs and powerful, these animals can weigh up to 900 kilos. Although they are herbivores, the buffaloes are deemed to be very dangerous and do not hesitate to attack humans, sometimes unpredictable. (Wan)
