After obtaining an UEFA master’s degree and a year of managerial training, Gökhan İnler is officially the new sports director of Udinese Calcio, the club in which in 2007 he had made his debut in European football. “It is a great honor to return where it all started – İnler said in an exclusive interview with TrT Sport -. Become a manager immediately after stopping playing does not happen to everyone. With the president I always stayed in contact: he wanted me strongly and believed in me. After a year of work, experience and preparation, receiving this assignment is for me a reason for great pride”.
The 41 -year -old former midfielder, who also dressed the shirts of Naples, Leicester and Beşiktaş, added: “I am happy with the trust that the club gives me, in particular the president of Udinese. I work every day in close contact with the technician, the staff and the players, doing everything you need for the good of the team. I want to affirm myself in Europe, grow and get to even more prestigious roles”. During the interview, İnler also spoke of Turkish talents in Serie A: Hakan çalhanoğlu and Kenan Yıldız. “Hakan improves year after year, is a great talent, a tactically very important player. Kenan brings the number 10 shirt with Del Piero with honor: he is doing well and will still grow”.
The Juventus DS also spoke of Victor Osimhen’s recent transfer to Galatasaray: “Osimhen waited patiently, he absolutely wanted to play there. We talked to us several times and I clearly seen his will. It was not an easy operation, but Galatasaray did it. An important purchase for the Istanbul team”. Finally, İnler praised Turkey’s technical commissioner, Vincenzo Montella: “I know him well, I know how he works and lives for football. He transmits trust and motivation. I am convinced that we will go to the World Cup”. And finally on the UEFA Super Cup final that will be played tonight at the Dacia Arena in Udine, he concluded: “It is our stadium, renewed and modern. It will be a beautiful and fought final between PSG and Tottenham. A big football party”.
