Justin Timberlake announces that he has Lyme disease

Justin Timberlake, one of the major figures of American pop, revealed Thursday to suffer from Lyme disease, an infection transmitted by ticks that upsets his daily life. In a message published on Instagram, the 44-year-old artist, ex-member of the Boys Band Nsync, explained that he had lived for months with disabling symptoms.

“Living with this can be continuously invalidating, both mentally and physically. When I received the diagnosis, I was of course shocked, “he said, adding that this revelation allowed him to understand” why [il avait] intense nervous pains on stage, or why [il se sentait] extremely tired or sick ”.

A disabled but rarely fatal disease

Lyme disease, rarely fatal, causes rashes and symptoms close to flu, such as muscle and joint pain, headache, nausea or extreme fatigue. The singer, whose world tour has just ended, also returned to the impact of this series of concerts, which he describes as “the most fun, moving, gratifying, physically trying and sometimes exhausting” experience.

Some fans had criticized a lack of energy during his performances, an element that today takes on a new meaning in the light of his state of health. “I am not saying that so that you have mercy on me, but to give an overview of what I had to face behind the scenes,” he insists. Justin Timberlake was talked about last year after an arrest for drunken driving near New York. He had pleaded guilty of a minor offense and carried out work of general interest.
