A French film guaranteed without trace of wokism

Luc Besson delivered in 2025 his version of Dracula, the famous novel by the Irish writer Bram Stoker. Despite big means (45 million euros), the film is a semi-new. Certain plans (the small dragons constituting the Valetaille of Count Dracula or the discovery of Maria in the hospital for example) are even quite unworthy of the work of Besson. Other moments of the film are, for their part, more neat from the point of view of Gothic aesthetics, which will delight lovers of the genre. Danny Elfman’s music is also one of the attractions of the film, with a grandiloquent bias that can be listened to.

But where the amazement wins the cinema lover is that this film was not hit by the Woke virus. No transgender character, non-binary or xeno ascending bat, no “diversity” in the 15th century Romania and the 19th century Paris, barely a small homosexual allusion in a passage on the decadent nobility, completely credible passage. No coarse political discourse on, as desired, “migrants”, “racism”, “oppressed women”, “toxic masculinity” and all the tintouin. There are even only white actors! In short: Besson’s Dracula does not redo the story according to the Lubies of the moment and respects a certain ethnic truth. It must be said that the 66 -year -old director is currently struggling in a story of accusations around his person. Would her confrontation with the pack of the property have guided her pen?

This n-th “Dracula” is therefore not a success but it has the advantage of not hiding from dark political and social speeches under the cover of cinema. Just a beautiful love story crossing time and space against a background of darkness and carpatic folklore. With a few scenes revealing the most charming parts of a few well -made European ladies. He therefore deserves a gesture on your part, especially since fall begins to point his nose. With a cinema outing around 11 p.m., after dark, it can stick with the atmosphere.
