Drame de Jianjie Lin – 1 h 40

In the playground, Wei balances a basketball ball on the neck of a comrade in the process of exercising the parallel bars. To be forgiven, he invites Shuo to his home to share video games. Parents offer the teenager to dinner with them. Shuo, discreet and laconic, politely accepts. What a welcome! We see that he is not used to it. He lost his mother when he was 10 years old and his father alcoholic does not hesitate to be kicked out. The couple takes him under his wing. A kid who studies seriously, that changes them from their nigaud who only thinks of becoming a professional fencer. Wei is insolent and lazy. Shuo is serious and delicate.

With M. Tu, who is a biologist, he shares the love of classical music, ranges before The well -tempered keyboard. Listening to the wife, a former air hostess, telling her travels and regrets does not bother her for a second. Wei begins to be jealous. We guess the purpose of Brief History of a Familya first film by Jianjie Lin: class differences, unknown interfering in an environment that is not his. It is also a question of the psychological ravages created by the policy of the only child. Is this shuo an unhappy, an intriguing, an impostor? The film is careful not to provide a firm answer. AND. Together – To have

Michael Shanks’s horror – 1 h 42

Dave Franco and Alison Brie are husband and wife in real life. The Hollywood spouses, barely in his forties, are perfect for embodying two lovebirds already deplored by a life as a couple who beats the wing. He is Tim, guitarist Has Been before he had known glory, depressed, plagued by nightmares. She is Millie, cheerful and combative teacher despite disillusionment – Prince Charming turns out to be a loser without charisma. The two city dwellers without children settle in the countryside to change their air.

By exploring the surroundings, the couple fell in a strange cavity. They stay one night in this wet cave before extracting them. From this moment, the first signs of a supernatural force are manifested. Their bodies are like magnetized. This attraction is not easy to live but it spins a libido at half mast. A benign kiss turns into a fiery and painful mouthpiece. A coitus in the toilets of Millie school turns in the acrobatic figure. Having separate is not enough. When Millie and Tim wake up with her arms glued like Siamese one morning, she attaches him to a chair and seizes an electric saw by swallowing rasades of whiskey to give herself courage. Michael Shanks handles black humor and fantastic with dexterity. His “body horror” is a clever mix between the cinema of Mr. Night Shyamalan and that of David Cronenberg. AND. S.

Welcome to Bella Vista, a residence for retirees in California. The place really exists. His name is actually Villa Gardens and was founded in 1920 by the first woman principal of the United States. She wanted to promote educational methods to the elderly. This is where director Sarah Friedland shot this first film with residents and professional actors. Ruth, interpreted by Kathleen Chalfant, short and chic hair intact, decided to come and end her life in this “Country club of the third age”. But that, we understand it, it was when she still had her whole head.

When her son Steve comes to pick her up with her and definitively takes her, Ruth is disoriented, his fierce character resurfaces and a form of fragility settles. In this nebulous universe, Ruth is crossed with lightning of anger, of lucidity too. His good education and intelligence have not disappeared. She has humor. Steve walks on eggs. It is what we are in front of our loved ones who gradually lose our heads. Torn, clumsy, prohibited. Sarah Friedland films with infinite delicacy what society still calls and always wrongly a sinking. F. D.

The fire test – To have

Dramatic comedy by Aurélien Peyre – 1 h 45

For three months, Hugo has been going out with Queen, an esthetician whose pace has been a little detonated in the upscale vacation. His friends whisper and laugh. The young lady has piercings and tattoos, 3-kilometer fake nails, swimsuit as tiny as a postage stamp. Together, they shared the taste of manga. Alas, it wasted no time in annoying it. He does not want to become the laughing stock of regulars in Bermuda. She makes too much noise by pulling on her electronic cigarette. From charming, his southern accent turns into a handicap. And then why is she lugging with this microscopic female dog that she coats with sunscreen?

With The fire testAurélien Peyre dissects the air of nothing the cruelty of social relationships, the tics of language, the gap which separates the wealthy of the “toothbinders”. Without singing Bourdieu, he gives flesh to his fine and disenchanted chronicle, something between Cheaters, lacemaker and Pascal Thomas. A sweetness-bitter comedy that says a lot about the time, youth, regrets. AND. N.

Is there a cop to save the world? – We can see

COMMIDY THE ACIVO WORKER – 1 H 25

More than thirty years after the first trilogy of Is there a cop? (The Naked Gun), the parodic franchise makes its comeback, with Akiva Schaffer to the realization and the producer designer (signatory of the comedies Ted et Ted 2) Seth MacFarlane. This twisted police comedy proves that Hollywood cinema can succeed in the farce grand-guignolesque genre, while renewing itself.

By taking up the formula of the “Buddy Movie” dear to the cinema of the 1980s, Is there a cop to save the world? Return the sacrosanct tandem of cops who made the heyday of the American thriller. With his friend Ed Hocken Junior (Paul Walter Hauser), Frank Drebin Junior investigates both a bank robbery and a mysterious car accident involving a powerful industrial magnate (Danny Huston). The charm asset of this summer pochade is Pamela Anderson, playing Beth Davenport, a heroine who seeks at all costs to avenge the death of her brother. Aside from a few free -winged gags or a little too supported scatological gags, the film turns out to be a nice surprise. O. D.

Karate Kid : Legends – We can see

Dramatic comedy by Jonathan Entwistle – 1 h 34

Since 1984, five films and a television series (Cobra Kai) made Daniel, a young American orphan of father formed by Mr. Miyagi to martial arts, and his avatars, popular heroes. The hero of Karate Kid : Legends has an almost similar profile and story, except that it is Chinese – thus preserving the film from any criticism of cultural appropriation. Li Fong (Ben Wang) leaves Beijing for New York with his mother. A new start after the death of his brother, killed during a brawl. A trauma that pushes him to give up fighting. It is counting without Connor, bad boy champion of karate, ex of his new friend, Mia, holding the title of the 5 Boroughs tournament.

To face it, Li Fong is formed with two masters: his uncle Han (Jackie Chan) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio), the former apprentice who became Sensei. The film is addressed to early fans, adolescents in the 1980s, and their children born in the 2010s, a generation accustomed to scrolling domestic screens and reputed to maintain its attention for more than two minutes. The sequences are linked at full speed. The intrigue sewn with white wire is folded in an hour and a half and dust. AND. S.
