David Savard rendered proud services to the Canadian during his four years spent in town. The veteran, who announced his retirement following the end of the CH season, was a pillar for the young Montreal defensive brigade.
He was clearly not the most offensive batch, and he has greatly slowed down to the end, but he left everything on the skating rink. And that, the defender admits it: he may already be bored of hockey, he is aware that his body no longer followed.

So that makes CH find a solution to replace Savard … and it was suddenly there to do it, getting your hands on Noah Dobson.
And the Quebecer is the first to recognize it: it will be a big improvement for the tricolor brigade.

Savard insists that Dobson is a guy who is full of talent offensively, which adds an element to the Montreal brigade. It is not in this sphere that Savard excelled, let’s say.
But above all, Dobson already has the status of young veteran, which makes Savard see him able to solidify the blue line of the Canadian. We know that the club relies on many very young defenders, and Dobson, even if it is not the oldest at 25, will be the third older in the brigade.
It does not seem to worry Savard at all, however: he thinks that Dobson has experience to be a pillar for these young people.
Obviously, the leadership of Savard will not be replaced overnight. He was an extremely appreciated guy in the locker room and an important mentor for many young people in town, and that will not be easy to replace.
But in terms of pure talent, and in all respect for Savard, Dobson is indeed a huge improvement. And it’s cool to see that the Quebecer, which we expect to see around the Canadian, is not afraid to recognize it.
