“Sited”: What if it was the American summer film?

However,

“sited”: what if it american:

17 children of the same class disappear during the same night. Moreover, no one in town finds the cause. Consequently, Zach Cregger goes up a notch and confirms his talent with this little American fresco, an unexpected contemporaneity. For example,

In parallel with a “summer blockbuster”Disappointing not to say catastrophic. Therefore, the films of terror and horror are flush on the screens: after Substitution and the remake of Remember… last summeravant The night of the clownshere is Passed outparticularly awaited terror film since signed Zach Cregger, director of the excellent surprise that was Barbarous In 2022. Similarly, And if this new film leans more on the side of the thriller than of pure horror. there remains a great success, and of great coherence in this beginning of filmography.

A story that takes (a lot) its time to “sited”: what if it american reveal its global architecture. A passion to go rummaging what is going on in the house of others; particularly their basements and especially when they house old terrifying women: there is no shortage of the director of the director Passed out. But the change of register gives the filmmaker the means to paint a wider fresco on today’s America. by means of an extremely controlled choral story, multiplying the sub -intrigues without losing sight of the disappearance of the seventeen children in the Justine class (Julia Garner).

Lynchian accents

The pure horror at the origin of the story. the suspicions of a supernatural origin to this tragedy are thus drowned in a multitude of situations unreachable within the city: the brought back professor drinks a lot of alcohol, a young drug addict lives in a tent in the forest, one of the police officers of the city deceives his “sited”: what if it american wife who is on a business trip … with the children, it is the confidence that has disappeared. The film makes the weight of this loneliness feel today. and the failure of any collective project (parents become reactionary when they come together, the evil that affects the city pushes its inhabitants to kill itself).

Beyond the observation. its resolution a bit disappointing, the director leaves open a few doors of the scenario, and dresses them with a very Lynchian strangeness, like a red-haired woman with the disturbing smile crossed several times, or this incomprehensible cloud in the shape of a weapon that sees one of the fathers during a nightmare. Zach Cregger shows here a multiplicity of talents. which could well assure him a radiant career in Hollywood, as well as the means of putting into scenes his most sordid stories.

Passed out From Zach Cregger, with Josh Brolin, “sited”: what if it american Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich. In theaters on August 6, 2025. (2h08)
