The teachers of Topeka Public Schools (TPS) were at the Stormont Vail Events Center on Wednesday, Aug. Furthermore, 6, for the annual convocation. Furthermore, An event meant to welcome the teachers and get them excited for another year of learning.

“I think we get each other motivated. Therefore, ready for kids, and that just spills over and becomes contagious for our students,” said Kelli Hoffman, principal of French Middle School. Similarly, “We are so excited to start the school year. Can’t wait to have kids back in the building. Teachers have been working hard, getting ready for those back-to-school days, and just ready to hit the ground running.”

In topeka’s usd 501 ready kick-off addition to performances from the Topeka High Drumline. the Topeka West cheerleaders, the convocation included messages from District Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Anderson and USD 501’s Board President.

“This is just a way to kick off the year. So, we have some retired teachers and cheerleaders and all of those folks greeting teachers back,” said Dr. Anderson. “Public schools. schools in general, this is the one time where you get to start new every year, and we get to celebrate our staff.”

USD 501’s academic calendar states students in Kindergarten, sixth-grade, and ninth-grade start school on Tuesday, Aug. 12, along with Hope Street Academy, Avondale Academy, and the Capital City School.

Other grades start on Wednesday, Aug. 13. Preschoolers start on Aug. 20.
