Between lessons, work, leisure or family life, it is not always easy to clear time to read. This is why, according to an IPSOS survey for the Vinci Autoroutes Foundation, more than a third of French people take advantage of their summer vacation to read more.
And you, if you were to recommend The book to be taken in its suitcase this summer ? Not easy to choose… If you are looking for ideas for the holidays, that’s good: the editorialctu.fr chose her five essential books.
Léa: Loin d’Alxis michalik
If when the beautiful days arrive, you are particularly fond of books without headache, whose story immediately takes you, you will love it Loin of Alexis Michalik. We rather know the plays of the successful director, and yet, Alexis Michalik also has a novelist’s soul.
In this first novel, he tells with humor and a pen Across the genealogical quest of Antoine, who has never known his father. Loinit is therefore a road-movie Captivating which tells the hero’s journey on the roads of the ex-German Germany to Turkey, including Georgia, accompanied by its best friend (very funny) and his sister (completely barred).
Loin has everything to be the perfect summer novel: We laugh, we drop a tear, we are suspended on the following pagesSo much the suspense is brought finely … In short, we do not let go of this super refreshing book!
Clémence: On the road, the original roll de Jack Kerouac
My meeting with On the road started with the cinematographic adaptation made by Walter Salles, which I saw at 14 years old. The story of these characters A little lost in their lives, in search of adventures and addicted to the roadmade me want to know more and discover the novel that inspired it.
So, at 15, I set my sights on Jack Kerouac’s book. Since then, he never left me again. For the anecdote, the edition I have published in 2010 – takes up the first version of the novel written by the author in 1951. The legend says that he wrote it in three weeks, during a period of convalescence.
In order not to interrupt the flood of his thoughts and his inspiration, Jack Kerouac taped several sheets to each other to create a roll, thus avoiding him to put paper in his typewriter. The result? A 36 -meter long and a frantic writing, sometimes poetic. A book to devour without moderation!
Martin : Les Aventures de PéstresDonald and company
For some, summer rhymes with crossword or large thriller full of suspense. For me, the sun and the beach, it is synonymous with reading a Super giant pearls or a Mickey Journal.
Each year, I plunge back into the adventures of the inhabitants of Donaldville and (re) discover the escapades of Donald, his nephews Riri, Fifi and Loulou, his uncle Picsou and all the others: Daisy, Geo Findou, Powerduck (the alias Super heroic of Donald), Gontran Le Chanceux or even Popop Le Gros Dorter.
Read a Pearlyit is the assurance of being transported in A wacky adventure, a bit easy, but very entertaining. And in addition, as they each contain several stories, it is divided without problem in several readings. Perfect for summer, right?
Sophie : Indian Creek the pete cheer
The pure freedomwho has never dreamed of it? Pete Fromm is about twenty years old when he accepts a position, a little by chance, in the mountains of Idaho. For seven months, he will have to live solo in a tent, in order to monitor the salmon of a river for the American hunting and fishing regulation.
He who is thirsty for adventures jumps at the opportunity, without really thinking about this long winter that he is about to spend alone in an often hostile environment. Day after day, we follow in Indian Creek his learning of life in the great outdoorsenamelled with successes and failures.
With a lot of humor, Pete Fromm relates this experience which marked a turning point in his life. We follow it with great pleasure, even more comfortably installed on its sofa or on a deckchair.
Alexandra : The Prophet de khalil gibran
I do not know if I could qualify this book as “feel good” but one thing is certain: I come back to it every year and, with each reading of the Prophet From Khalil Gibran, something happens. Actually, It’s a book that reads three times.
The first reading, “normally”, makes it possible to immerse yourself in history full of moralities and wisdom of this philosophical tale. The second, aloud, allows you to appreciate the beauty of words and the sound of sentences. The third, finally, is used to discuss the lessons given by Khalil Gibran over 80 years ago now.
You cannot agree with everything that is said, but it is a small book easy to slip into its suitcase, easy to stroll through your beach or hiking bag, easy and quick to read, but above all easy to share. Ideal for holidays, right?
