The commissioners get involved!

The tension rose from a notch to the Hungarian Grand Prix 2025: Max Verstappen is the subject of a survey after a controversial action against Lewis Hamilton.

Max Verstappen could see his result in Hungaroring called into question. The Red Bull driver was summoned by the commissioners after the arrival of the race, due to an overtaking deemed doubtful on his historic rival, Lewis Hamilton.

The incident occurred on the 29th round, while the two champions argued in the eleventh place. The Dutchman tried a daring attack inside turn 4, forcing the Ferrari driver to widen his trajectory to avoid a collision. Result: Hamilton had to go through the escape and lost precious time in the operation.

No contact, but a maneuver under surveillance

Although there was no contact between the two cars, Verstappen’s action could be judged as having forced another pilot to leave the track, which clearly breaks the regulations. If the commissioners believe that the Dutchman has taken an induced advantage of this maneuver, a penalty could be imposed on him.

The incident will be examined at 5:15 p.m. local time at the end of the Grand Prix. Verstappen and Hamilton will then have to be explained before the FIA officials.

A very offensive Verstappen

Starting only eighth on the grid, Verstappen has nevertheless made a solid service, multiplying overruns, especially in turn 6, its predilection sector this Sunday. Its impressive rise is however overshadowed by this controversy which could well tarnish its performance.

The outcome of this survey could have significant consequences in the final classification. If Verstappen is found guilty of having forced Hamilton off track, a time penalty or a demotion could be imposed on him.
