History: “Lili Marleen”

Rialto films

Rainer Werner Fassbinder magnified Hanna Schygulla in this elegant war film all in songs on a German cabaret artist, which has become the darling of the Nazis.

Timeless: “The King and the Bird”

Photo COLLECTION CHRISTOPHEL

A shepherdess in love with a chimney sweep, a tyrannical king and a philosopher bird … Grimault and Prévert are inspired by Andersen. A tender tribute that has the immortal magic of a masterpiece.

Disenchanted: “The duckler”

Malpaso Productions

Cimino’s first film: A beautiful Picaresque walk in very good company (Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges), between beers, prosecution and friendship in America in the 1970s.

Remarkable: “Plan 75”

Happinet Phantom Studios/Loade

By imagining a generalized euthanasia plan for those over 75, this film brilliantly tackles a burning subject: the aging of the Japanese population. As delicate as it is terrifying and haloed by the special mention of the Golden Camera in Cannes in 2022.

Classic: “Manon”

Alcina

1944: Desgrieux is a young FFI and Manon frequents brothels. We find the darkness and the complexity of the characters, typical of the style of Clouzot, between fascination, impulses and violence.

Mafieux: “Nostalgia”

Photo Mario Spada/Picomedia

Back in his Naples Natal, a man faces his memories, his shortcomings and camorra. A captivating film with mystical resonances.

Melancholic: “Don’t Come Knocking

Wim Wenders Foundation

Twenty years later Paris, TexasWim Wenders was reconnecting with Sam Shepard for this shunned film when it was released and yet crossed by vibrant dialogues on the passage of time and the regrets that remain.

Pictural : “Mr Turner”

Channel Four Television

Impressionist self-portrait of the artist in a grumpy pig: Turner (1775-1851), landscape painter carried little by little to the limits of the figurative, becomes for Mike Leigh the elegiac chronicler of a lost world. Timothy Spall is great.

Burning: “Les Amandiers”

Photo Jérome Prébois/Ad Vitam

Aspirant comedians, they burn the boards, and their life. The actress-cineastic revives the passion of her years of training for almond trees. Electrifying.

Wult: “Priscilla, Tow to the denert”

Screen Australia/Orion Pictures Corporation

Three Drag-Queens cross Australia by bus to participate in a review in a performance hall which is located in the middle of the desert. A real plea for tolerance and fantasy.
