Few research collections on children’s literature bringing together as many authors, researchers and criticisms as “Vietnamese children’s literature: on the road they have taken”. Readers discover the reflections and concerns of writers and poets who have accomplished prowess in youth writing, as well as the comments and assessments of researchers and literary criticisms on children’s literature.
French The book is divided into two parts: from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside. From the inside to the outside is the voice of the initiates, including names whose works are widely appreciated by children, such as: Nguyen Nhat Anh, Tran Duc Tien, Cao Xuan Son, Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, Bui Tieu Quyen … with more than 40 years of work with children’s literature, the writer Nguyen Nhat Anh said: ” For children is a work which must more or less bring together two factors: the praise of children and the praise of the parents. This last part is often accidentally or intentionally neglected by publishers. This is an important opinion not only for writers but also for those who create children’s books.
Let’s look from the collection of articles by researchers on children’s literature in the past 50 years. The associate professor, Dr la Thi Bac Ly, presents to readers the flow of historical themes of children’s literature, which originated in the 1960s of the 20th century thanks to emblematic authors such as Nguyen Huy Tuong, Ha An, to Hoai, Son tung, Hoai Anh … Dr Le Nhat Ky and Master Pham Tuan Vu Smentor the Fort Development of the Gender The writing team and the structure of the works. In his presentation on the evolution of Vietnamese youth poetry from 1975 to 2025, Dr Nguyen Thanh Tam (Plume name Thanh Tam Nguyen) shows that this genre has “created its own literary space, worthy of the recognition of children and other readers. It is an important and interesting aspect of indigenous culture, a unique asset of Vietnamese literature and culture ”.
The author Van Thanh le (Director of the Kim Dong publishing house at Ho-Chi-Minh-Ville) entitled with humor his work “Vietnamese children’s literature at the beginning of the 21st century-things left in my closed eyes as an arbitrary comment! However, whatever its title, it is a work of an exceptional and precious youth literary criticism in the current context. It is the fruit of many years of observation from different points of view: write for children, create children’s books and be passionate about children. This is why this book offers a crossed look, both the observer and the initiate.
The work is divided into two parts. In the first, the author Van Thanh highlights the movements of current children’s literature through many aspects: concepts, themes, genres, creative teams, prize, critical research, press, media, social networks, publishing industry … endowed with in -depth knowledge of the youth publishing market, he raises practical questions, objective and subjective aspects of current children, concrete. In the second part, he presents and analyzes twelve youth works written by twelve authors of different ages, such as Nguyen Nhat Anh, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Bui Tieu Quyen, Le Quang Trang, Dy Duyen, Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa…
This work completes the analysis and comments of the first part and aims to shed light on the reality of children’s literature in the country today. Van Thanh’s direct attitude is remarkable. Even when he evokes his colleagues or the authors of the previous generation, he does not show any reserve or flattery, relying on the work itself to discuss it. This work is therefore considered a useful document for those interested in children’s literature or school education.
