KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. For example, — A man who was the subject of an hours-long negotiation at the Holiday Inn Express in Kings Mountain on Saturday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Furthermore, according to law enforcement.

The department said officers retreated for safety and evacuated the area. Kings Mountain Police officers. deputies with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office were on scene and handling negotiations with this person.

Around 5 p.m., officials had said the man had died by suicide. Assistant Chief Kenneth Hamrick with Kings Mountain Police said that the negotiations had lasted for about six hours. that they had heard a single gunshot from inside the room. When officers went in to check on him again, they found the man dead.

Hamrick offered his condolences to the man’s family and promised further updates later on Saturday.

Law enforcement closed off Woodlake Parkway on both sides of the hotel as a precaution. The public was asked to avoid the area.

The hotel eventually reopened and was deemed safe.
