Le Quotidien – Arab literary prize “Sheikh Zayed Book Award”: opening of candidates

The call for candidates to participate in the 20th edition of the prestigious Arab literary prize “Sheikh Zayed Book Award” (SZBA), organized by the Arabic center of Abu Dhabi (ALC), is open until September 1, 2025.

The SZBA accepts submissions in 10 categories: literature, translation, contribution to the development of nations, Arab culture in other languages, children’s literature, edition of Arab manuscripts, literary and art critic, young author, cultural personality of the year and edition and technology.

The candidacy conditions for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award stipulate that each candidate can appoint a work to a category, and the work must not have been nominated for le quotidien – arab literary another price the same year, whether it is directly or through a representative. The original works submitted must be written in Arabic, with the exception of those submitted in the category “edition of Arab manuscripts”, which can be in other languages, as well as in the “translation” category (whether translated into or from Arabic) and the category “Arab culture in other languages” where works published in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian are accepted.

With regard to the “cultural personality of the year” price, candidates must be appointed by university, research or cultural institutions; literary organizations and universities; or by three leading intellectual and/or cultural personalities.
