Koen Wauters may be known as an Anderlecht supporter, and he sometimes gets a harsh reality outside of football. His daughter Zita is regularly targeted on social media by Bodyshamers. And that touches him, although she turns out to be remarkably better than her father.

Wauters tells in The morning That he asked his daughter if she wanted to talk about it. Her answer was resolute: she didn’t want to lose a second to “pathetic types” who try to bring her down. For Koen that is a relief, although he himself is less able to keep that distance.
New generation with thick skin
Son Nono also appears to quickly ignore criticism. “If you stamp him against the shins, he just says ‘f ** k you’ and continue,” says Koen.
He himself has more difficulty with that. “I wish I could do that, but I stay awake from such situations,” he confesses. Yet in his children he sees a new generation who, like some young players in the Astridpark, has learned to not be taken out of balance by negative voices.
