Herman Li claims that DragonForce was already famous before Guitar Hero

Herman Li returns to the dragonforce course before the media explosion linked to Guitar Herosaying that the group was already well installed in the metal landscape before the planetary success of Through The Fire And Flames.

Dragonforce’s success does not (only) come from a video game

In a recent interview with Andertons Music CoHerman Li returned to the dragonforce trajectory before the title Through The Fire And Flames does not become cult thanks to Guitar Hero III. The guitarist insists: the group was already in full ascent.

“I did the old -fashioned thing”he says, evoking the demos distributed in hand specific to the labels, the concerts in Japan with Helloween in 2004, and a European tour alongside Iron Maiden the same year. “We even sold all the places of an American tour before having released an album there.”

According to Li, the arrival of the group in Guitar Hero only made a phenomenon already in progress. “People made fun of us because we were doing solos. We were told that it was cheesy. So we pushed the thing even further.” Today he sees this time as a period which has helped to restore interest to the guitar in Metal, after the grunge and nu metal years.
