The history of the Vendée told in a huge fresco. This frieze of twelve scenes takes up more precisely the journey of the royalist general François-Athanase Charette de la Conrie who participated in the War of Vendée. shot in Nantes in 1796. It extends over 200 m² along the walls of the Salle de general charette celebrated through gigantic l’Euron à la Garnache, in Vendée. For the mayor François Petit, this fresco constitutes a “Open museum”. The Lyon cooperative of Muralist artists Cité Création worked on this project for more than 600 hours in order. to carry out these particularly detailed paintings.
For the Garnache councilor. the realization of this fresco was “Social responsibility” and had to represent General Charrette in a character “Outstanding that made the Republic tremble” but also in one “Inventor of guerrilla warfare”, et “At the origin of the Vendée insurrection”.
“We must not deny the fratricidal war which took place in Vendée.
