In the first two weeks of August, high -pressure areas dominated the weather in Switzerland. Thunderstorms only brought rain to the point, and it was also warm to hot. The dryness and the risk of forest fire have worsened.

In most regions, the danger level is “moderate” to “considerable”, but in Valais there is “big” to “very great” danger. “Very great danger” is the highest level that the federal government defines. A general ban on fire applies in the entire canton of Valais.

Rain in sight

After the long high -pressure phase, a low is now open and brings a change in the weather. It moves from France via northern Italy to Adriatic on Thursday. It will probably get wet everywhere, but the rainy amounts will be very different.

METMAPS

From Tuesday evening to Thursday morning, thunderstorms will ensure that a lot of rain comes together in some areas, other areas are going empty -handed. As soon as that moves from northern Italy to the Adriatic, the wind turns north. From Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, the rain clouds build up on the Alpine north slope and bring another 20 to 40 millimeter rain here. Depending on the history of the thunderstorms, there can be a lot of rain. The highest probability for larger amounts of rain is on the alpine north slope, on the pre -Alps and in the south.

Where the drought and the risk of forest fire ultimately relax, it remains to be seen. Most weather models, however, show that larger amounts of rain could not be absent, especially in the Rhonetal. However, medium -term forecasts show new chances of rain for the week later.
