Known in certain Hollywood circles such as the “queen of ketamine”, Jasveen Sangha, 42, “should officially plead guilty in the coming weeks,” California’s federal prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Currently in pre-trial detention, this American-British risk risks up to 65 years in prison as part of the guilty pleading agreement, which includes several charges, including that of Ketamine distribution that led to death.
“She assumes responsibility for her actions,” said her lawyer, Mark Geragos.
His recognition of guilt must avoid a trial with jury and lead the prosecution to abandon some of the charges initially retained by the prosecutors.
The death of Matthew Perry, found unconscious in his jacuzzi in October 2023, had shocked fans of “Friends” and aroused a rain of tributes in Hollywood.
The actor, who played the role of Chandler Bing in the successful series, had spoken publicly about his dependence problems.
He was taking ketamine in a supervised way in the context of therapy against depression. But this legal anesthetic is sometimes diverted for stimulating or euphoric purposes, and it fell back into dependence in the fall of 2023, according to the investigation.
“Honor any order”
Besides Ms. Sangha, four other people are prosecuted for their involvement in his death: the actor’s personal assistant, an intermediary and two doctors accused of having consciously exploited his dependence by calling him “moron”, according to SMS exchanges.
All have already agreed to plead guilty, and the alleged trafficker is the last to resolve it.
In this drama, his fetard profile, publishing on Instagram images of his luxurious trips, sometimes in private jet, and flashy jewelry, has since left under the spotlight.
According to the investigation, she sold dozens of doses of ketamine in Matthew Perry, in unmarked bottles.
She also offered him a sample so that he could test the goods before purchase. And the last lot she provided to her was accompanied by a small gift: pacifiers with ketamine.
According to the prosecution, the resellers immediately tried to cover itself after the death of the star of “Friends”. “Erase all of our messages,” she then orders her intermediary.
During a search at his home, the investigators found 80 bottles of ketamine, methamphetamine, cocaine, Xanax bottles and other medicines obtained illegally.
In terms of ketamine, she boasted of being able to “honor any order”, according to the investigation, thanks to her relations with a “chef” and a “scientist”.
“High end and celebrities”
“It only manages the high -end and the celebrities,” wrote the intermediary prosecuted to the personal assistant of Matthew Perry. “If it was not good cam, she would lose her customers.”
A true cultural phenomenon, “Friends” was disseminated between 1994 and 2004 and propelled Matthew Perry to glory. The series has marked a whole generation of viewers, narrating the adventures of a band of happy friends in New York.
But behind the scenes, the actor has long hidden a discomfort behind his jovial character in Chandler. He was fighting for a long time against his dependence on medication and alcohol.
In his memoirs published in 2022, he said he followed 65 withdrawal sessions, spending more than nine million dollars.
He had also undergone several surgical operations linked to his drug dependence problems, including an intervention for seven hours at the colon level in 2018, going so far as to say: “I should be dead.”
During an appearance on television shortly before his death, the actor had surprised the audience admitting to having suffered from a serious anxiety “every evening” during the shooting of “Friends”.
