AThe theater and cinema, doubler of Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington, the deputy at the town hall of Paris Jacques Martial died on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday as a result of a long illness, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo said on Wednesday. The councilor praised “A great man of theater, cinema and television”.

Died at 69, Jacques Martial was notably known to the general public for the role of a bain-marie in the police series Navarro Alongside Roger Hanin. In the cinema, “He had worked with the older ones”recalled the press release from the mayor of Paris as the filmmakers “Samuel Fuller, John Berry, Sam Karmann Ou Robert Kramer”. He also doubled several black American actors, lending his voice to the French versions of Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington or Wesley Snipes.

Jacques Martial, born in Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne) of Guadeloupes parents, was “A man engaged in the memory of slavery, the valuation of the creativity of ultramarine artists, and the visibility of black artists”said Anne Hidalgo.
