David Hubert puts his finger on Anderlecht’s problem

In March, Anderlecht made the decision to dismiss David Hubert. A painful departure for those who have since taken the reins of the first team of Louvain.

“When I was offered to succeed Brian Riemer, I did not hesitate for a second. It was not too early, no too late: it happened, end. And what I learned in eight months was like an accelerated master” he says in the RTBF.

Difficult context for Hubert

Wouter Vandenhaute, who wanted to turn the page with Riemer and Fredberg, decided to separate from all the Danish players present at the club. This did not facilitate the work of a young coach like David Hubert: especially this season, where the context could not be more complex: structural changes, budget cuts, new technical director and supporters with great expectations, “he recalls. He does not specify if Anderlecht promised him something other than what happened later. Anders Dreyer and Francis Amuzu were sold at low prices and was replaced by less good players.

Need stability in Anderlecht

“We lived fantastic adventures (European victories and qualification for the Belgian Cup final, editor’s note), with ups and downs of course, but there have also been injuries and players who left in winter for financial reasons.”

Besnik Hasi then took over, but he did not manage to put the train back on the rails either: “It was impossible for me to become a assistant in the Hasi staff. You know, in big clubs like Anderlecht, there are many other things at stake. You have to learn to live with it. But Anderlecht must find stability: if we constantly change the foundations of a building.”
