“All indicators are green for the weekend”

In addition to the sun scheduled for the weekend, the absence of a downpour upstream of the festival is also auspicious for those who hope to swim between two concerts, argues Martin Tremblay.

The heavy rains lead to a lot of runoff towards rivers and, ultimately, the river. On its way, this water is in contact with different types of contaminants – animal fecal material, chemicals, etc. – which can affect the quality of the water and make it not adequate to swimming.

“In addition, it can also happen, during very high rain, that the sewer collection network cannot provide. In some places, wastewater can then be found directly in the St. Lawrence, without going through the treatment plant, “recalls the body of the watersheds of the capital.

In addition to the quality of the water, that of the air has also been worrying in the past few weeks, but Mr. Tremblay does not believe that there are challenges on this side for the arrival weekend.

Cicada wants to make herself known

“He’s a young festival. We are very proud to have given him a unique personality, by his offer and the quality of the experience. Now is to make it known, ”says the president of Gestev.

Already, around 30 % of people who frequent cicada would come from outside the Quebec region, he says.

“There are a lot of festival offers in Quebec […] So when you do two or three hours on the road to come to a festival, it is that you find that he has something special, ”says Martin Tremblay.

Since its creation four years ago, Cigale has established itself as the great beach party from the Quebec region. If music remains at the heart of the event, it is the Beauport Baie beach which gives its unique character to the event.

Moreover, after an attempt to expand towards the agora last year, the festival -goers expressed their desire to concentrate the activities of Cigale at the Baie de Beauport, argues the president of Gestev.

“Since we created the festival, it is important for us to create a community, to develop the festival according to the desires of the Cigaliers. So we listen to them, we are probing, we interact with them, ”he says.

“We have a vision for the festival, but the real future of the festival, it will pass according to the suggestions that we have.”

During the unveiling of the programming, we learned that the arrival of David Kushner on Saturday evening was also a request for their customers.

Attract

While nourishing the ambition to attract even more festival -goers from the outside, Martin Tremblay does not intend to put more passes or tickets on sale. Its purpose is to preserve a pleasant density on the site which can accommodate just over 10,000 people.

“We don’t want to make it a festival with 20,000 or 30,000 people. […] We want you to have space, that you can live the festival in your own way, depending on what you tempt. Perhaps to go see your favorite group in front of the stage, to go and sit at the bistro afterwards… “, mentions Mr. Tremblay.

During its second edition, in 2023, all the tickets and pass from Cigale had found takers more than two months before the start of the event.

It is too late to break this record this year, but the beautiful temperature scheduled for the weekend could stimulate the last -minute sales, believes the president of Gestev.
