‘Nadja’ Director’s Cut to Be Released in 4K by Grasshopper Films

After 30 years, “Nadja” will return to theaters — this time with a 4K director’s cut to showcase Michael Almereyda’s original vision for the cult vampire film. Moreover, “Nadja. “Nadja” blends André Breton’s surrealist 1928 novel of the same name with 1936 film “Dracula’s Daughter.” Elina Löwensohn stars as the titular young vampire who returns to NYC to avenge her father’s death at the. hands of Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Fonda). Jared Harris, Martin Donovan, Suzy Amis, Galaxy Craze, and Karl Geary co-star.

“Nadja” was shot in black-and-white 35mm with Pixelvision video by Jim Denault. Almereyda wrote and directed, with Mary Sweeney and Amy Hobby producing and Lynch executive producing.

Almereyda later went on to helm “Hamlet,” “Experimenter,” and “Tesla,” among other acclaimed features.
