Argentine artist Florencia Cairo exhibits in Plieux until August 24. A sensitive, organic work, inspired by Argentina and Gers, between abstraction and light.
As part of the Plieux-Arts exhibition, the Gisella Salvioni gallery welcomes the powerful and bright works of the Argentine artist Florencia Cairo. An invitation to dive into a universe where nature, matter and gesture dialogue with force.
She works there, always in resonance with what she calls “her incredible adoption land”.
After studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, her career began in Paris as a visual artist, where she created real performances in the disproportionate universe of event decor. His work also appears in prestigious private collections, in France and abroad.
His works, at the junction between figurative art and abstract expressionism, are inspired by the immensity of Argentinian landscapes, with infinite horizon lines.
On the technical side, his work on large format is initiated into a choreography of ample gestures, on a canvas without chassis or directly on the ground, where the work is built in the momentum. The spatula deposits diluted acrylic strata, alternating vertical and horizontal gestures. The addition of oil paint causes unexpected reactions and contrasts. Croisments of diapers weave a complex frame. Watercolor and ink also appear in certain compositions.
The addition of pure natural pigments, wax and bold pastels in finish makes it possible to obtain a silky and velvety effect.
The colors of the summer ending
The earth, brown, ocher tones and the omnipresent gold reflections evolve and transform, like the Gers landscapes at the end of the summer. “The mysterious alchemy of colors and the precise and affirmed gesture make it possible to cross transparency and to enhance the quest for light,” explains the artist.
“And I always draw a horizon line as a starting point. The meaning of my work is an ode to nature, to raise awareness of the beauties and weaknesses that surround us.”
The works of Florencia Cairo are visible at the Gisella Salvioni gallery, as part of the Plieux-Arts exhibition, every day until August 24, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. FREE ENTRANCE.
